The other down side to the shade range is that all of the shades are either neutral or have warm undertones.
If you have dark skin I think the darker shade range is a little lacking which is a shame. I think this foundation has a lot of shade variation in the lighter shades, so if you often struggle to get a shade match because you are so pale you will probably find a good match within this foundation. There are 30 shades in the collection which gives a good shade range coverage. This foundation really blurs imperfections and evens skin texture and colour with ease.
Having said that you cannot fully achieve a full coverage finish with this foundation and if that is what you are looking for then perhaps this foundation isn’t for you. The foundation is a light to medium coverage but is easily buildable. But this foundation really is like your own skin but better. This foundation can most certainly still benefit from the use of vitamin C or glowing primers and highlighters. It is also a glowing lit from within finish too. Their foundation is a true lightweight formula like none other that I have tried. Inspired by a luxury fabric, Armani designed their flawless foundation around the concept of a glowing and unified complexion. To me this is mind blowing because once I tried this foundation I never really looked back. I’ve been told you have not tried this foundation. It has been for around a year now, there are some strong contenders including the Clarins everlasting youth fluid (youtube video featuring for more info), but it doesn’t have the same finish as the Armani. Now you’re wondering why am I talking about it now? Well firstly because this is my hands down favourite foundation at the minute. But for many many reasons this iconic launch has stood the test of time. When quite frankly I probably didn’t know much about foundation other than my mum uses it. I have more foundations I want to try :) When I went through the foundation finder on their website, it said I should try their Designer Lift Foundation. I don't know if the Giorgio Armani Primer would help. This foundation can look drying on DRY SKIN. You would have to use a primer that is moisturizing and a makeup setting spray that adds moisture. It's a really good foundation, but I don't think it's the best foundation for DRY SKIN. I then tried it with Laura Mercier's Translucent Powder, but it along with the foundation made my skin look dry. I then added Too Faced's Got Peach? Lipstick. This foundation is pretty matte on DRY SKIN, so I had to spray Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray to get rid of the cake-iness/dry look. When I added my Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, NARS Soft Matte Concealer (I'm currently out of my favorite Tarte Shape Tape :P), things really came together. It covered the dark areas under my eyes, other discolorations and evened my skin-tone. I show a picture of myself below with no makeup (Smashbox Photofinish Primer) and then with ONLY the foundation. I found the coverage, on its own, to be really good. I selected Shade 6 (medium, warm), but I think I could bump it up to 6.5 for Summer.
